This week on iTunes, iHeartRadio, Stitcher and Spreaker, STT interviews Donnie Maib. Donnie began his coaching career at the University of Colorado in 1994 where he worked with E. J. “Doc” Kreis until 1997. Coach Maib trained all varsity teams while at Colorado, where he helped many athletes obtain All-Conference as well as All-American accolades. From 1998 until the present, Coach Maib has been at the University of Texas, where he is currently the top assistant under the direction of Coach Jeff Madden. While at Texas, Coach Maib has worked with a variety of sports including, Football, Women’s Track, Men’s and Women’s Golf, Men’s Tennis, and Women’s Volleyball. In 2005, with Coach Maib’s support, the University of Texas football team won the National Championship in the Rose Bowl. Under his direct supervision, Women’s Track won National Championships in both their indoor and outdoor seasons in 1999. Also under his direct supervision, Men’s Tennis won a Big XII conference championship in 2006, and most recently, Women’s Volleyball won the Big XII conference championship in 2007. Coach Maib has had the privilege of coaching numerous All-Conference, as well as All-American athletes, at the University of Texas. In football alone, while working alongside Coach Madden and Coach Mack Brown, there have been over 30 players drafted into the NFL in the past 10 years. In addition to coaching, Coach Maib is also trained in massage therapy, allowing him to assist athletes with both recovery and injury prevention. Coach Maib holds a 1st degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and has published a book and video entitled Speed-Strength Training for Martial Artists. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Donnie assists with character development classes and is often called upon to lead chapels for the football team during the season.
