This week on iTunes, iHeartRadio, Stitcher and Spreaker, STT interviews Dr. Sheri Colberg. Sheri is an author, exercise physiologist, and professor of exercise science at Old Dominion University, as well as an adjunct professor of internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. A graduate of Stanford University, UC Davis, and UC Berkeley, she specializes in research on diabetes and exercise, a topic in which she is considered to be a world-renowned expert. She has authored 10 books (including Diabetic Athlete’s Handbook: Your Guide to Peak Performance), 13 book chapters, and over 275 articles. In 2010, she chaired a position stand on “Exercise and Type 2 Diabetes” jointly for the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Diabetes Association. She also authored a professional book for clinicians titled Exercise and Diabetes: A Clinician’s Guide to Prescribing Physical Activity and co-authored a chapter on type 1 diabetes and exercise for the American Diabetes Association Type 1 DM Sourcebook, both published by the ADA in 2013. She also has over four decades’ worth of practical experience as a type 1 diabetic exerciser and remains an avid recreational exerciser who enjoys swimming, biking, walking, fitness machines, weight training, hiking, skiing, and yard work
