Footwork will help you advance in any sports activity that you take on. By learning how to quickly change the direction of your body while maintaining balance, speed, strength and body control, your movements will become fluid and graceful. Anyone can improve their agility through proper and persistent training techniques.

One of the primary tools used for agility training is an agility or speed ladder. By using an agility ladder, you will learn different body movement patterns. Typically, the ladder is 10 yards long with 18-inch squares. You can easily build your own ladder pattern by using tape, sticks, or other materials.

There are many exercises that you can perform using an agility ladder. Start with 2 or 3 drills at a time. Once you’ve mastered these, add a few more agility exercises to your routine.
