Dr. Trent Nessler

Dr. Nessler is the National Director of Sports Medicine Innovation for Select Medical. Select Medical is the nation’s largest physical therapy and sports medicine provider with over 1600 centers in the US. Trent has been a physical therapist for 20 years and involved in researching human movement for over 15 years. Dr. Nessler published a college textbook on human movement in 2010, published in peer reviewed journals and has been presenting on the topic of movement assessment nationally and internationally for over 10 years. Dr. Nessler developed an athletic biomechanical analysis to assess athletes for injury prediction and performance enhancement (Athletic Movement Index™) which was integrated with a 3D wearable sensor technology (DorsaVi®). The ViPerform AMI™ was commercially released in the US and abroad in August 2016 and has been used to assess over 2000 athletes to date. The ViPerform AMI is currently being used by 3 NFL teams, 2 NBA teams and 5 Division I colleges in the US. Dr. Nessler is also the developer of the ACL Play It Safe Program, a national injury prevention and performance enhancement program developed in conjunction with Select Medical, Theraband® and Cramer®. This program movement specific program has been implemented with over 1000 athletes nationwide and is currently being implemented by Troy University, Lipscomb University, Samford University, the KC Chiefs, FC Cincinnati and CO Rapids.

Trent current serves as a consultant for multiple teams, colleges and for the Brazilian Military and Olympics. Trent is Associate Editor for the International Journal of Athletic Therapy and Training and the VP of Medical Services for the International Obstacle Racing Federation (an International Olympic Committee Governing Body).
