Basketball
Basketball has become one of the world’s most popular sports. What many would consider the highest level of play, the NBA has inspired athletes from the rec level, AAU, high school, and through the college ranks. With the growing European leagues and more, the game of basketball is expanding quickly and giving both boys and girls, and men and women the opportunity to chase their passion for many years. There are a few aspects of this game that are entirely in the control of the player. Conditioning and mental preparation are two primary requirements to play at an individual’s highest level.
STT’s Basketball Performance Training (HoopsPT) program includes instruction to improve movement efficiency, speed development, agility, power development, and strength. The athletes participating in the HoopsPT program are closely supervised and attention is always paid to proper technique and safety. There is no better way to prepare a team for the upcoming season than to have them train together.
STT understands the importance of maximizing each athlete’s physical abilities, developing long-term prospects, and including rehabilitation and nutrition opportunities for sustained success.
Besides the benefits of getting stronger, faster, and in shape as a group, this program can also increase team bonding. Numerous teams in the Baltimore/DMV area have taken advantage of STT’s Team Training Program and have had highly successful seasons. Learn more about STT’s Team Training options HERE.
Agility, Reaction, and Quickness (ARQ) Training
ARQ sessions provide advanced conditioning and speed training techniques to enhance sprint times and quality of running movement patterns. This year round program focuses on running, landing, and cutting mechanics to educate the athlete on proper movement patterns and kinesthetic awareness.
HoopsPT Weak Link Program
Whether you are playing for the neighborhood championship or the NBA/WNBA title, you can get injured. STT’s Sport-Appropriate Weak Link program focuses on the following for basketball:
• Head, neck, and upper back
• Midsection
• Ankle
• Knee
• Hip and Groin
• Low back
Athletes at all levels of basketball are looking to gain an edge on their competition. A well-designed and implemented athlete development program can help a basketball player improve their strength, power, speed, explosion, conditioning, and movement. It is imperative to train in-season as well as during the off-season. The HoopsPT Athlete program for basketball is designed around two training sessions per week during the competitive season, and up to three days per week during the non-competitive season. HoopsPT Scholastic Training Schedule*
In-Season (November to February): Coaches will tell you that this time of year in the training cycle is the most critical. With tough practices and proper game day preparations, working out three or four times per week is an unlikely possibility. A two day per week in-season program is much more feasible and practical to implement. In order to make training as convenient as possible, STT offers both team training sessions and individual athlete training options too.
AAU/EYBL Season (March to July): Intense training with the emphasis on improved strength, conditioning, flexibility, and skill development. This 1-2 day a week program offers each player an opportunity to develop his or her physical and mental capabilities through prudent, productive, practical and purposeful training.
Off-Season Training (August to October): After a physical season, injury management is a crucial component of an athlete’s year long training cycle. Post-rehabilitation program development and implementation, as well as general physical preparedness programming, allow the athlete to heal up and improve their mind and body. These exercises will help to continue strengthening weakened areas, while improving flexibility and mobility.
